Pinoy Lifestyles and the Global Pinoy Family

Yesterday, I received a comment from Vince that asked the following question:

“In fairness. This post is very rich in information. I just wonder though, why some of your posts have “American” context rather than Filipino context where your blog is all about Filipino Lifestyles.:) Just wondering.:) But you have a good blog. I’m tremendously impressed.”

Last year when I decided to start Pinoy Lifestyles, I did a few months of research. I looked at hundreds and hundreds of Filipino websites and blogs. I knew that, if my blog was to  succeed over time, I must select a special segment of Filipino life and concentrate on that area. During the research, I noticed basically two types of blogs: strictly Filipino blogs that concentrated on the cultural/local life in the Philippines and blogs that concentrated on individual Filipinos and their lives.

I decide that there was a real need to address the lifestyle of the  Filipino Picture of a Filipino familyfamily that was, mainly, living overseas. I decided that it was important not to stereotype the Filipino family as it was important to address the unique geographical and cultural situations that the Filipino found themselves in each place they resided. At the same time, I wanted the information to be relevant enough to make the life better of the Filipino living in the Philippines.

To give an example, in the United States of America there are over 3.5 million Filipinos. This group breaks down to Filipinos born in the USA, immigrants in various stages of acquiring their US citizenship, overseas workers on work visas, and, yes, illegal Filipinos that have never legalized their status. This situation is repeated in most western countries. There are, also, the overseas workers that reside, without families, in most all countries around the world.

There are, by best estimates, currently over 12 million Filipinos residing outside the Philippines in over 130 countries. This group I call  the Global Pinoy.

My mission each day is simple: to bring the most up-to-date information (no matter where that information originates) to the Global Pinoy Family. Be it a Filipino-American in the United States or a medical professional working in the United Kingdom, the oil field worker in Saudi Arabia or the local Filipino residing in Manila or Davao; they all want the same thing – important up-to-date information that impacts their daily lives.

Pinoy Lifestyles addresses all major areas of the family life – parenting, recipes, cooking, nutrition, health issues, finances, family relationships and  so on. If it is important to the family, we will address it at Pinoy Lifestyles.

I know that your time is valuable so I hope that I will meet my commitment to you by  providing the very best information…day after day.

Thank you for your visits and your support.
